ABOUT THE AUTHOR Arvind Sivaramakrishnan

Arvind Sivaramakrishnan took his degree in philosophy and sociology and his doctorate in political philosophy from the University of Southampton. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in social administration and a professional teaching qualification, both from the University of Southampton. For over twenty-five years he has taught and conducted research at various levels in the United Kingdom and India, and has published a range of academic papers in politics, political philosophy, and public administration; in the United Kingdom he has also worked as a front-line employee in the National Health Service as well as local government social and education services. Dr. Sivaramakrishnan is a former Fellow in Politics at the University of Southampton, a former Reader in Politics at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad, and a former Lecturer in Social Policy at Suffolk College, Ipswich, and has taught at several other further and higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. In addition to writing for academic publication, he contributes centre-page articles and specialist book reviews to The Hindu.
