The economy of Nepal is primarily based on foreign aid, but the aid received is not properly channeled according to set policies and programmes. Institutional development is a base of the economic progress of a country, its major issues and problems are outlined.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Kamal Raj Dhungel

Kamal Raj Dhungel born on December 2, 1951 in Dolakha Distsrict of Nepal. He has been working in the Tribhuvan University since 1983. Currently he is involved in a research work as a research scholar of Tribhuvan University. He has written various books on Economics for different levels and has published more than two dozens articles on the theme of Economics in the reputed journals and newspapers of Nepal. He has worked in the Planning Commission of Nepal as a consultant and an advisor. He also has presented seminar papers at the national and international conferences organized by various institutions. His area of interest among other things is energy analysis, poverty and human development. He has conducted various research works some of which also have been published.
