ABOUT THE AUTHOR Alan Woods

Alan Woods, born in Swansea in 1944, is a graduate of Sussex University where he studied slavonic languages. He joined teh Labour Party at the age of 16, where he was won to the ideas of Marxism. Over the past 30 years he has published many articles on Marxism. He co-authored with Ted Grant Reason in Revolt (1995), and Bolshevism: the road to revolution of the Marxist magazine Socialist Appeal, and the increasingly popular Website in Defence of Marxism (www.marxist.com)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ted Grant

Ted Grant immigrated to Britain from South Africa in 1934, where he joined the Independent Labor Party, and subsequently the Labor Party.  In 1938 he helped to found the Workers International League, which later fused to form the Revolutionary Communist Party.  Since then, he has played a leading role in the Trotskyism movement, and is regarded as the principal theoretician of Trotskyism in Britain and internationally.  His selected writings, entitled The Unbroken Thread, Published in 1989
