“ Mathematics is the indispensable instrument of all physical research.” Different types of Reasoning are involved in the learning of mathematics. In this study, four types of reasoning namely, Inductive, deductive, analytical and intuitive are considered. The reasoning strategies evolved by the research consists of four modules aim at enhancing all the types of reasoning. The content chosen for the strategies is mainly Geometry because it requires and lends itself for more reasoning than any another branch of mathematics. The first chapter of the book signifies the need and importance of the problem. The second chapter deals with the method of study variables considered for study, etc., review of related literature while the third chapter consists of details regarding methodology of the study. The fourth chapter enlightens about both the qualitative and quantitative analysis. The fifth chapter enlists the findings and conclusions. The Appendix contains the Reasoning Strategies, its four modules intended to enhance the reasoning ability of the students.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ningamma C. Betsur

Currently, Dr. Ningamma C. Betsur is a faculty member, in the Dept. of Studies in Education, Karnataka State Women University, Bijapur, Karnataka. She obtained her M.Sc., M.Ed., and Ph.D. degrees from Bangalore University. She has also been awarded, "Master Trainer Certificate". Dr. Ningamma has served for eleven years as Lecturer in the colege of Education. She has worked as mathematics lecturer in the junior college and taught mathematics and physics in the high-school for some time. She has attended many orientation programmes, seminars and workshops conducted by variuos organizations. She has also conducted orientation programmes for high-chool trs of Karnataka State.
