The book “Recent Advances in Zoo and Wild Animals Health and Management” has been compiled to disseminate the scientific and technical advancement among scientists, researchers, conservationists and policy makers working in the field of zoo and wild animals health and management.
Content of the book has been compiled from the selected invited lead papers either presented in or published proceeding of international congress on “Advances in zoo and wild animals Health and Management” held at Jammu, India in April, 2007. The contributors of the papers are persons having vast experience in their field. In recent years there have been significant development in scientific and technical knowledge in different aspect of zoo and wild animals health and management, the same has been compiled and presented in the form of book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.M. Arora
Dr. B. Arora (M.V. Sc, Ph.D, PGD J &MC)., has worked more than three degrees in the discipline of wildlife sciences. Soon after his first appointment as senior scientist (wildlife epidemiologist) through Agri Scientists Recruitment Board (ICAR) was nominated as Hon. Advisor for the matters of Zoo Animal Health management to national Zoological park, New Delhi, Min, of Environment & Forest. He has set up Centre for Wildlife Conservation, Management & Disease Surveillance at IVRI (ICAR) Izatnagar (UP). During his service career Dr. Arora held various positions and assignments: Principal Scientist (Wildlife) IVRI (ICAR) Izatnagar (UP), Director national Zoological Park, New Delhi, Technical Member, CZA and one of executive members of the authority, Member SSC (IUCN), Head Div. Epidemiology IVRI Izatnagar (UP). Dr. Arora, introduced National PG Diploma Course on Wildlife Health & Management at IVRI (ICAR). Recognizing his services in wildlife, Ministry of Environment & Forest has encouraged him to help in establishing the Wildlife Health and Disease diagnosis Centers in certain Veterinary Institutes in the country in 2001.l He has also been instrumental for strengthening wildlife health and disease monitoring surveillance programmes in India.
