ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.N. Tiwari

Born in Khariar, now a part of Naupada district of Western Orissa, A.N. Tiwari, I.A.S. (Retd.) joined the Civil Service in 1950 after obtaining a degree of Graduation and Bachelor in Law. He held important positions in the administration of Orissa. His forte being art, culture and tourism he virtually built Orissa tourism from scratch. He ushered a green revolution as Collector of Bolangir and effectively tackled the explosive law and order situation in HAL Koraput division. These were some of the important milestones in his illustrious career. As a powerful speaker he was the first recipient of the prestigious Chancellors prize for debate while studying in Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. He wielded his pen with equal ease. He has been associated with many socio-cultural activities in his post retirement period. As a dream project, he brought out a comprehensive compendium on Orissa called Reference Orissa. This book was an instant success and won rave reviews even abroad.
