The book includes thirteen papers on various dimensions of Regional Disparities in India authored by some of the leading economists, social scientists and journalists of the country, besides the keynote address by Professor K.N. Raj. The papers were presented in a national workshop on regional disparities in India organised by the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati. The workshop was sponsored by the National Council of Applied Economic Research, New Delhi. The workshop deliberated on the impact of economic reforms, 1991 on regional disparities. A number of contributors looked into regional disparities from the perspective of the north east in general and Assam in particular. The book is a valuable addition to the literature on regional development.
