This book, one in the series of books focusing upon animal groups and their physiology and development, concentrates its focus on reptilian endocrinology. The endocrine system, together with the autonomic nervous system, controls and regulates body functions. As such, the neuroendocrine system is then one of the most crucial body systems, for it ensures integration of all the systems into a smoothly operating organism, controlling the functional component and putting them together so that they operate harmoniously. The book not only ensures that the mechanisms of chemical coordination through the endocrine system in reptiles within the larger context are explained in the minutest detail, but also that their roles in acting as chemical messengers and regulators are devoted enough attention, as well the results of the imbalance in their content within the bodies of reptiles.
