Water is a vital resource for life on this planet. Unfortunately freshwater resources are scarce and are also under threat from pollution. The majority of lakes in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the globe suffer from the primary and secondary effects of eutrophication because of land-use in the catchment and external loading of nutrients mainly from municipal sewage and agricultural watersheds. This book contains information on abiotic environment and water quality, spatiotemporal variations in biotic component across different trophic levels starting from phytoplankton to fishes projecting them as bioindicators of lake eutrophication and its restoration and management. The book covers different tropical and sub-tropical regions from South America to Africa, to South Asia and China. It comprises of 15 chapters written by specialists and includes information and extensive data on different aspects of lake biomanupulation and related ecotechnologies which enable restoration and sustainable management of the water quality in these disturbed ecosystems. This book will be useful to students as well as teachers and researchers of aquatic ecology and environmental sciences, managers of water quality of lakes and reservoirs, policy makers and many others interested in eutrophication of aquatic ecosystenins
