ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.V. Bhaskaran Nair

P.V. Bhaskaran Nair took his Masterâ€™s Degree in Economics from Sri Venkateswara University in 1974. He was awarded Ph.D. Degree by the University of Calicut in 1988 for his thesis â€˜Finances, Costs and Returns of University Education in Kerala: A Study of Calicut University. This is the area in which Dr. Nair has done research for over two decades while he was with the University of Calicut holding important administrative positions including the Office of the Special Officer, Publications Division, and later with the Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, as its Publication Manager. As a Senior Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Government of India, New Delhi (1997-2000), he investigated several aspects of costs and returns of pursuing higher education in Indian Universities besides contributing several papers in leading research journals. He also attended/participated in various all-India conferences and Seminars and presented papers. Dr. Nair authored a book â€˜Costs and Returns of University Educationâ€™, in 1990.
