The saints occupy a unique poison in our national life, literature and culture. In fact, they have been the main sources of inspiration in our life for over last 5000 years. By investing shrines and sacred places with religious and spiritual significance, the saints have enabled us to maintain unimpaired sense of the unity of India and, of the continuity of her cultural life.It is not easy to write about the saints. They are rare and sometimes even difficult to understand; but because of the rarity and difficulty one ought not to turn away from trying to discourse. It is better to attempt something magnificent and even fail than to accomplish inconsequential ends. Most of us, most of the time, are busy with trivialities, not realizing that they are so.It is only when we put these aside and strive to rise to the dimension of eternity which is that of the saints that we really begin to live Following the lives of saints and on their teachings is a potent means to elevating our own lives and for gaining sublimity. This book is a modest but sincere attempt in this direction.
