ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.C. Misro
Dr. Ram Chandro Misro (b. 1954), a double goldmedialist, possesses a brilliant academic career. He passed B.A. with History Honours from S.K.C.G. College, paralakhe-mundi (Orissa) securing first position in first class and was awarded the L.N. Sahu Memorial Gold Medal for being declared as the best Arts Graduate of Berhampur University in 1975. He did his M.A. in History from the Post-Graduate Department of History of Berhampur University in 1977 securing first position in first class and was awarded the University P.G. Gold Medal. He was the recipient of P.G. Merit National Scholarship for two years from 1975 to 1977. The present work was the result of his research work for which he was awarded the Ph. D. degree by the Berhampur University in February 1992. Dr. Misro served as Lecturer in History in various leading colleges of Orissa like N.C. Government College, Jajpur, S.C.S. Government Evening College, Puri; and D.A.V. College, Titilagarh from 1978 to 1983. He joined the P.G. Department of History as Lecturer in March 1983 and became Reader in August 1987, and presently he is working as Professor of History. Professor Misro is the life-member of more than a dozen Academic Societies and Professional Organisations. He was the Vice-President of Orissa History Congress in 1994-95 in its Silver Jubilee Year. He was also the Vice-President of South Indian History Congress in 1999-2000. He has been honoured to be elected as member of the executive Committee of the Institute of Historical Studies, Calcutta for three years till March 2002. Professor Misro has published more than 80 research papers in various journals and edited volumes of all-India repute, and currently as Professor of History he is actively engaged in various research activities.
