Rural indebtedness is a socia-economics problem. The burden of indebtedness in rural India is great and falls mainly on households of rural working people. Indebtedness, in particular rural indebtedness gas long been treated as a distress phenomenon. It is found that, the moneylenders took unfair advantage of illiteracy, ignorance, credulity and helplessnes of rural people and specially farmers to extract money from them.
In this book an attempt has been made to study the rural indebtedness in Yavatmal district of Vidarbha region of Maharashrta in general. This study also discusses famer’s suicide due to the burden of loan and indebtedness.
