The present book is divided into six chapters and each chapter has been arranged in such a way to facilitate the readers to understand the problem thoroughly. The introductory chapter discusses the need and significance of the study. The second chapter presents an analytical review of the related studies pertaining to the problems of different categories of women labourers conducted in India and abroad. The third chapter states the problem of the study, the objectives, the methodology, the scope and the constraints of the study. The fourth chapter presents detailed profiles about the area and the profiles are classified as district, block and village level. The analysis of data is presented in detail in chapter five. The chapter is divided into four sections: Section I deals with the socioeconomic status of their families; the analysis of the problems of women labourers in work environment is undertaken in Section II; Section III deals with the problems faced by the women labourers in home management; the problems related to their level of awareness about labour laws and about the developmental programmes are analysed in the Section IV. The summary, major findings, conclusions and suggestions are given in the fifth and sixth chapter.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR A. Balakrishnan

A Balakrishnan is a Reader of Applied Research at Gandhigram Rural Institute (Deemed University), Gandhigram. He has over 12 years of teaching experience at the postgraduate level with vast research experience. He has published a number of research articles in leading national journals and a book on Empowerment of Rural Women Labour Force. He has presented a number of research papers in national seminars and conference. He is basically a rural development professional. He has worked as a Project Coordinator in NABARD sponsored project at Gandhigram Trust, Gandhigram.
