Rural development encompasses a multi-disciplinary approach. The concept of rural development is being shuttled in a whirlpool of a vicious cycle of socio-economy, bureaucracy and technology. The rural economy of India presents unbounded challenges relating to its development and growth. India virtually lives in its villages and therefore, rural development holds a key position in the hierarchy of its developmental goals. As such, the importance of the different aspects of rural life in India needs much emphasis. This book provides a realistic picture of Indian rural society. The book is bound to benefit social scientists, planners, rural technologists, academicians, teachers and all those interested in learning about the vibrant villages that are the heart of India.
