The project on Status of Rural Women Workforce : The Changing Socio-Economic Scenario (A study based on Jaunpur district) is planned, formulated and executed to measure the status of rural women workforce and to suggest some special policy measures to improve the status of the section in question in changed scenario which is characterized as globalization. This study will use latest and accepted world-wide parameters to measure the socio-economic status named as GDI and GEI. Value of GDI and GEI is very low which means various efforts like legislations, welfare measures, different efforts related to social, economic and political empowerment have had little impact on socio-economic status of rural women workforce. GDI is low because of different gender differentials, mentioned in the study in detail, exist in the society. It was shocking that not only society’s attitude but women’s attitude is also against women. GEI is also very low, for this traditional restrictions and religious bindings are responsible, no doubt, but even women are not ready to change their attitude towards decision-making process. It is true that due to male domination in most of the cases they are not free to take decision even they are working and have own earning but in most of the cases I found during field work that they are not ready to take any initiation in the name of Sanskar and because of the feeling that Pati is Parmeswar. Man and woman both should be treated as an individual with their separate identity and dignity. For achieving these objectives the attitude of society must be positive and enriched with scientific temperament. It is possible only by the best system of quality education since very beginning classes. If it is so then Indian traditions can be modernized and made useful for the society in this new changed socio-economic scenario. To make this project work more useful for students and academicians some extra chapters named human development indices–a detailed study, policies and programmes for women development, constitutional measures for women development and women welfare in different Five Year Plans have been included in this book.
