“SARI-SARNA” describes the traditional mandates of Santhal community which has been established after thousand years experiment in different geographical regions since dateless past. It is not a religion in the strict sense as we understand from philosophical point of view but a way of social and cultural life of the community. ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.C. Hembram

Dr. P.C. Hembram (b. 1942), after graduation from Calcutta University, obtained his M.A. (Anthropology) and Ph.D. (Folk Literature) degrees from Ranchi University. Currently he is serving as Controller of porgrammes in the Directorate General, Doordarshan, New Delhi. Earlier he served as Station Director, Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur and Cuttack stations. The area of interest of his study is Indian culture in geeneral and Tribal culture of India in particular. He has contributed several learned articles on this subject which were published in reputed Journals. At present he is working on the origin and development of Santhal language
