Female education is a current and important dimension of education policy in India. weaker sections like scheduled castes are quite backward in socio-economic as well as educational fields. And weakest among these weaker sections are Scheduled Caste Women. This study is an attempt to understand the problems of scheduled caste girl students at secondary and higher secondary level in Rajasthan. This work is an attempt to go beyond the explanation about educational backwardness of the poverty stricken people. How community and regional characteristics and variations alongwith the family circumstances have restricted or assisted in educational process of the girls? These issues have to be looked into in an integrated manner. Therefore such issues are identified and this provided the basis for understanding critical situation as well as taking a peep in the future. Some corrective measures and suitable guidance programme are the need of the weaker sections to cope with the challenges of backwardness. These implications and suggestions are also discussed so that they may help in the formulation of comprehensive educational policy taking care of educational backwardness of the scheduled caste girls. After all they have to join the mainstream of the nation not only in terms of social adjustment but also in the field of education and employment.
