This compendium of seven papers seeks to examine the status of science and technology in ancient India. Analyzing the development of mathematical concepts in ancient India, it discusses at length Tarka and Parisesa, the two important logical methods in Indian philosophy.
It further presents a critical assessment of phonetics in Pratisakhya, relative chronology of phonetics and grammar, the Nirukta and etymology, and the pursuit of healthy life in Carakasamhita. It also contains an annotated version of Rodasiprakarana of Nilakantha Caturdhara which deals with the conflicting theories of Puranas and astronomy concerning the universe.
