Science and Technology in Rural Homes

The book focuses on the penetration and impact of Science and Technology in Rural Homes in general and women in particular. The investigation has been undertaken in Haryana, a state that is on a fast track of development. The study provides valuable insights to the use of indigenous and modern technologies, scientific temper, knowledge and adoption behaviour of rural households towards various household technologies, indepth analysis of accelerators and barriers of technologies among different land holding categories of farming households along with the impact of socioeconomic and other factors on adoption behaviour. The technologies investigated have been grouped into categories viz. lighting, health and cooling, transport, water related and consumable goods. The findings of the study would prove beneficial in formulating strategies for popularizing science and technologies in rural homes and communities for drudgery reduction, social engineering, economic and social empowerment.
