Unemployment in India both in terms of magnitude and severity poses a formidable challenge. As per the result the 55th NSSO survey, the rate of employment on Current Daily Status (CDS) basis declined. In addition, the number of job seekers is increasing from one five Year Plan to the other Five Year Plan period. To overcome this menace, a Task Force on employment opportunities was set up by the Planning Commission, Government of India to suggest appropriate strategies to generate 100 million jobs in a decade.
