Simple Ayurvedic Remedies

The last three decades have witnessed extensive experimental studies on Indian herbs and their therapeutic activity. Some of these are no more available or have become ‘endangered species’; but still some herbs and organic or inorganic compounds that have therapeutic efficacy are available and can be used with encouraging results. The present work is an attempt to specify the therapeutic usage of herbs to suit the body systems and presents simple Ayurvedic remedies that can be effectively used to fight disease. There is not denying the fact that there is a wealth of botanical agents in Ayurveda that can be used to effectively treat most chronic or acuate maladies. The diverse climate zones of the country and its multitude of flora and fauna provide a wide spectrum of plant groups, including rare tropical species. This ‘herbal abundance’, backed by India’s botanical heritage and the therapeutic systems that have been tried and tested for centuries, provides and excellent means for effective natural healing. The author firmly believes that ‘herbs are vital information on herbs and Ayurvedic formulae, based on classical references, that make it possible to devise effective, safe and helpful home remedies. As such, the book assumes special importance for the lay person.
