Why is it that a mere sight of Sindhu resonates the cords of the heart and enthralls the soul? It is so probably because a view of Sindhu revives the past thousands of years of annals of history. It is same divine river in whose enfoldments, our civilization evolved, our culture and our society flourished and because of whom our name Hindu was derived; whose wharfs witnessed the coruscating scripturing of Vedas; where the saints and the sages cogitated and meditated the God, which took cognizance of several fierce battles; which has always been a grandeur in depicting the great identity of India and whom to cogitate everyday is the religion of a Hindu. Thousands of pages can be exhausted in writing about Sindhu. But this small picture book is a small effort to provide some information about Sindhu. I’ll consider this work fruitful, if it exhorts the readers to know more about Sindhu. We were fortunate enough to be showered with the love and blessings of our venerable leader, Sh. Lal Krishan Advani. His guidance in this holy excursion provided us with the true spirit. The strident strength given to us by the blessings of Rajju Bhaiya provided impetus to the excursion. Respectable Sudarshanji and Madan Dasji intensified our determination for this pilgrimage with their adulation and support. But for the firm platform provided by the then Chief Minister of Delhi Sh. Sahib Singhji, so much could not be accomplished. We will forever be indebted towards the Chief Minister of J&K Dr. Farooq Abdullah; Defence Minister Sh. George Fernandes; Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal; the Chairman of Autonomous Hill Development Council of Laddakh, Leh, Shri Thupstan Chewang; SC & ST Commission member Respected Lama Lobjang; Lt Gen Krishanpal; Maj Gen Budhwaar; Brig Deepak Summanwar; the Deputy Commissioner of Leh Sh. Basharat Ahmed; Col Sudhir Garg; Col TS Gill; Major Mann and many other Army Officers and Corps for their immense cooperation. The companionship and cooperation of my dear friend and Additional Collector (Revenue) of Delhi, Sh. Manoj Kumar was highly supportive and will never be forgotten. All the social organizations including the Hindu Trust of Leh, Laddakh Buddhist Association, Shia and Sunni Organisations; Moravian Church, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee provided full support and cooperation to this excursion. We hail their ‘esprit de corps’ and are highly obliged towards them. ‘Sindhu Darshan’ which is the original text in Hindi is translated into English by Poonam Sinha. I am extremely grateful to her for her effort.
