ABOUT THE AUTHOR M. Lakshmikumari

With a doctorate in Botany from the University of Madras, Dr Kumari served as a professor of Botany in Sri Padmavathy Women’s College, Tirupati, and was later awarded a post-doctoral fellowship at the Ukranian Academy of Sciences, Kiev, USSR, where she specialized in Microbiology and subsequently joined as Microbiologist at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. With an innate urge to serve the cause of Swami Vivekananda, she dedicated her life to service, and got closely associated with Vivekananda Kendra at Delhi as its Vice-Chairman and later became the All India President. Currently, she is heading its new trust, Vedic Vision foundation, at Chennai. Widely traveled, she spearheaded the Vivekananda Bharata Parikarama for all the 347 days in its marathon journey of 22,000 kms. In 1993, she addressed three major Parliaments of World Religions at Washington, Chicago and Calcutta.
