This book has been created to provide access to in turn about fashionable of sociological aspects of education. Various Committees and Commissions in India have suggested educational measures conforming to socialist Pattern of Society. The Kothari Commission has observed, " One of the important social objectives of education is to equalize opportunity, enabling the backward or under-privileged classes and individuals to use education as a lever for the improvement of their condition. Every society that values social justice and is anxious to improve the lot of common man and cultivate all available talent, must ensure progressive equality of opportunity to all sections of population this is the only guarantee for the building up of an egalitarian and human society in which the exploitation of the weak will be minimized. Scientific realism deposed the belated humanism of the schools and colleges and controlled the directions of human affairs. The contemporary social, political and economic forces influenced Christianity declined in its hold over human civilization and it. Ultimately secularism gained the upper hand. The directions of development of education thus have been perennially influenced by the, economic, political and social thought in the every field there have been long period of stagnation and sudden tumultuous changes. These change have influenced the course of development of educational thought also. It is still a matter of argument, whether Education is an independent discipline and has a theory and practice of its own, But it is certain that in the long course of history education had been successful in developing its tools of analysis and areas of inquiry which could be attributed solely to the discipline of education. It hoped that the present collection will go a long way on fulfilling the long felt need for researchers, educational planners and the general readers alike to consult the material on educational thought in a single collection. The book has been written in a simple language, with the text classified in small parts to make it easier for the students to follow and remember. It is hoped that this will prove quite useful to the students of sociological parts of education.
