He is also a Fellow of IEEE, ACM, AAAS, and the Minnesota Supercomputer Institute, and a Distinguished Alumnus of IIT Kanpur. In 1997, he was awarded the IEEE Taylor L. Booth Education Award for contributions to Computer Science and Engineering education... He got his PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University. Dr. Sahni has published over 250 research papers and written 14 textbooks. His papers are on the design and analysis of efficient algorithms, parallel computing, interconnection networks, design automation, and medical algorithms. His textbooks are on data sturctures, algorithms, parallel algorithms, discrete structures, and software development. Dr Sahni is a co-editor of the International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science. He has served as program committee chair, general chair, and been a keynote speaker at many conferences.
