Southern Axis: A Selection of Contemporary Art of Southern India

Behind every book there is a purpose, and behind that purpose an attitude, a guiding principle. In this context the present publication is not just a book on art, nor a mere intellectual endeavour. It is shaped by the idea to create a symbiosis between art and altruism. For Mukti, the organization behind this publication, has always been motivated to reach out to others, particularly the physically challenged. This book has evolved in the course of the last two years. Quality of the art works has been the hallmark in the selection process. Also we have given importance to those artists, who have been in the field for decades; we wanted to acknowledge their contribution that has come after years of toil.
