ABOUT THE AUTHOR Pandit Shambhu Nath

Pandit Shambhu Nath was a senior teacher of Yoga Education at the Yoga Institute of Santa Cruz, Bombay. He was a lecturer at the Film and TV Institute, Pune (1963-1970). He organised "Better Living" courses in Bombay, Madras, Goa, Rajasthan and Delhi (1970-74). He was Course Director, Academy of Yoga and Research, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Delhi branch (1975-1991). Pandit Nath was Junior Research Fellow in the Orthopaedic Department of the AllIndia Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and conducted group therapy in two phases: 1977-78 and 1979-81. Appointed Yoga Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS, he conducted a two-year research project, "Yoga Therapy with Anxiety neurotics" (1986-88), and a three-year project, "Comparative Study of Progressive Relaxation and Yogic Relaxation Techniques in the Management of Anxiety of Neurotics: (1989-1991), both sponsored by the Indian Council of Medical Research. He was a Founder Trustee of Shri Yogendra Yoga Foundation, New Dehli and Jodhpur, and a Founder-member of the International Board of Yoga, Yoga Bhawan, Mumbai. But unfortunately, he is no longer amidst us.
