Srikantha is the most celebrated of all the Saiva Vedantists and his Brahma-Sutra-Bhasya is taken to be the most authoritative Vedanta-Bhasya of the Saivas. He has very ably explained the Vedanta philosophy from the standpoint of Saivaism. Srikantha propounds his central philosophy that Brahman is Siva. Siva is taken to be the sole Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer of the Universe, as well as the sole Cause of Salvation. In his Commentary, he identifies ‘Brahman’ with ‘Siva,’ attributing to the latter all the usual qualities and activities of a Monotheistic God.
