EDUSAT is an important promise in the life of Indian nation. Conceptualized sometime in 2001 or earlier in ISRO, it surfaced in 2002 with the document Educating the nation: the Need for a Dedicated Satellite, authorship credited to Prof. Mukhopadhyay. EDUSAT was launched on 20th Century September 2004, four months ahead of schedule. The ground network is yet to be ready, and hence utilization of EDUSAT is still and open question. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Marmar Mukhopadhyay

Prof. Marmar Mukhopadhyay is Joint Director of National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi. He has written extensively on education. His contemporary research interest is on ethics and values in education. Some of his major recent books are Total Quality Management in Education, Indian Education: Development Since Independence, Governance of School Education. Secondary Education: The Challenges Ahead.
