In the present educational scenario, residential educational system, though gained fast momentum, has lost sight of its objectives. So, there is a great responsibility on the state to provide congenial environment to the inmates. This present study throw light on residential schools run by the state Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide qualitative education to the children of socially and economically backward communities. This study concentrated mainly on the adjustment problems in relation to social integration and achievement of the students of residential schools. This book can be highly useful to research scholars, principals, administrators and teachers of residential schools to understand the intrinsic problems of the students. It will also serve as practical handbook for the policy makers and academicians to work out suitable policies and implement useful programmes to the benefit of the deprived children.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR R. Siva Prasadh

Dr. R. Siva Prasadh has had continuous bright career through out his academic life. He has a first hand knowledge in Residential schooling system as he, himself, had been involved as a Teacher, Lecturer, Principal and Member of Admission and Recruitment Board of Residential institutions for over 15 years. He has gained immeasurable practical knowledge about these institutions, which make him an indisputable authority on the subject of our study. Presently, the author is working in the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He has presented a good number of research papers in Regional, National and International seminars and workshops and for publication in Journals. Currently, he is engaged in Research project works on Value Education Programme and Performance and Effectiveness of the Principals working in Residential Schools of Andhra Pradesh His areas of special interest are Residential education of ancient and modem times, School Management; and Educational Administration and Planning.
