Studies in Demography, is an attempt to make the subject matter more useful by providing latest data, figures and explanation. Not only this, total thirty-one chapters are grouped in six such sections which can help readers to select the desired subject matter (related) in one section. These six sections are : Introduction; theories of population; demographic measurements; population dynamics: India’s population profile; Population profile of world and population and resources. Three more chapters viz. Population region of world; population region of India; and natural resources, level of technology, livestocks; and labour force/economic activity ratio have been added, which will fetch the need of students of economics and geography. Not only this, a separate section on mortality influencing population policy, has been widely discussed. This completes the analysis of population policy long needed supported by recent developments in the field. The text of every chapters has been significantly revised. Undoubtedly, this will serve as an ideal text and reference book to one and call concerned.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.C. Srivastava
Dr. S.C. Srivastava (b. 1939), Formerly Reader and Head, School of Studies in Economics, Vikram University, Ujjain, obtained his Master and Doctoral Degrees in Economics from the University of Allahabad, Allahabad. Presently, he is Professor and Head, Department of Economics, C.M.D. Post-Graduate College, Bilaspur (G.G.D. University, Bilaspur). He has been member of different Academic and advisory committees. He has been actively associated with several National and International associations like, ESCAP, IEA, TIA, MPEA etc. The main area of his interest has been Population, Econometrics and Regional Economics. A prolific writer, his books include Studies in Demography (also Translated in Chinese), Demographic Profile of World; Dynamics of Demographic Studies etc.

Dr. (Smt.) Sangya Srivastava (b. 1968), Formerly Assistant Professor in the Post-Graduate Department of Economics, D.P. Vipra Mahavidhyalaya, Bilaspur, India, obtained her Mater’s degree from G.G.D. University, Bilaspur and Doctoral degree from Pt. R.S. University, Raipur. She is also selected in M.P. Education Services. Her interest lies in the application of quantitative techniques in socio-economic problems related o women, specially belonging to weaker sections.
