Sustainable Land Use Planning and Management

This book seeks to assess the socio-economic, institutional and political process of land use change in the context of sustainable land use planning and management. Explaining the theoretical base and historical background of the land use dynamics, it analyses the trends of change in land use pattern over the four decades and the major drives of these changes.

Further identifying the different actors and interest groups behind such changes, it describes in detail the inter-relationship between urbanization process and land use changes. Finally, it analyses the impact of change in land use on the socio-economic and ecological conditions of the rural community, along with the environmental, legal and administrative issues.
