The study is based on a variety of sources:- The manuscripts, speeches, polimics, the correspondence and letters of Swamy Dayanand, his thirty four books, his commentary on the Vedas, the English translation of his works, his autobiography and other biographies the old files of Arya Miotra, Sarvadeshik, Srya Darpan, Sarya Siddhant and Vedic Magazine, the Reports of the International Aryan League Delhi the Reports of U.P. Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, the Reports of the Indian National Congress, besides the Reports of the Famine Commission and of the Census of India. The various Reports of Arya Sarvedeshik Sabha Delhi and U.P. Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, the special Numbers and Commemoration Volumes were looked into.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shanti Deobala

Dr. Shanti Deobala was born on June 03, 1927 in Montgomery Punjab now in Pakistan. She had a brilliant educational career. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from Allahabad university, her Master’s degree in Political Science from Kanpur university and got her PhD degree for her dissertation, ‘Swami Dayananda and Indian Nationalism’ from Lucknow university. She served for fourteen years as Head of Political Science department in Moradabad and the for 21 year as Specialist in International Relations and reader in Political Science in the university of Lucknow Up. She has to her credit many research papers relating and among her numerous publications, her book on ‘ The Theory of International Relations’ in four Parts is remarkable work. Her other Books are ‘Thailand-Our Neighbor’, ‘Suvarna Bhumi Ki Ore’, ‘Svami Dayananda and the role of Women in Social and political Fields’, ‘Arya Samaj and Superstitions’, her treatise on ‘Vishnu-Sahastra-Naam’, is of significance. He other field of interest was the Modern Political Thinkers of India and she has to her credit many Articles regarding modern Indian Political Thinking published in various journals. She has also been busy in creative writing and her two story books, ‘The Flower of Fire’ and ‘The red Rays of the Setting Sun’ and her two books of Satirical verses and Articles- ‘The Mirror of our Shadows’ and ‘India i.e. Bharat’ have been very well received in literary world. Suvarna Bhui ki Ore- a Travelogue and the Mirror of Our Shadows have been the recipient of national Awards of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan Lucknow in 2003 and 2004 respectively. For many years she edited the literary magazines Apurva and at present she is the Chief editor o the Annual Number of the Story Book of the Women Writers of India. She has got published its five volumes which have been very received. Shanti Deobala is widely traveled and has been on her Lecture tour to South East Asian Countries. Twice she has been to USA.
