Islamic banking and finance has made great strides in the past few decades. Now, it has become a force in the internatioanl financial market to reckon with. This book contains the papers, and proceedings including discussions and documents presented at a national workshop which was jointly organized by the Islamic Fiqh Academy (India), the Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi and the Islamic Research and Training Institute of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Jeddah and held at the Convention Center of the Hamdard University, New Delhi during 25-26 April, 2009. The papers and Proceddings of this workshop have been published in three languages simultaneously, Urdu, Arabic and English. The workshop examined the issues how Islamic banking, economics, and finance could be introduced at Islamic Schools in India. This is a subject on which very few literatures are available. The Islamic Fiqh Academy (India) is proud to present this book on this subject.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ausaf Ahmad

Dr. Ausaf Ahmad (b.1945). He obtained his early education in Lucknow, where he was born and raised. Later, he obtained his M.A. (Economics) degree with distinction from Lucknow University in 1969. He taught economics at Agra University, Aligarh Muslim University, and Delhi University. He worked for his M.Phil in Regional Development from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. In 1974, he was selected for the award of Fulbright Scholarship and obtained his Ph D in Economics from Northern Illinois University, USA. He worked for the Islamic Development Bank from 1983-2005. Now, he is retired, lives in Noida and edits an Urdu quarterly Mutaleaat, for the Institute of Objective Studies. New Delhi.
