ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.M. Moin Qureshi

Dr. S.M. Moin Qureshi, Ex-Director Sindh Social Security who has been an Honorary Professor at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi began his literary odyssey in 1953. Ever since, his articles are being carried by eminent local and foreign journals. He is one of the few authors of Pakistan who write both in Urdu and English with equal ease and eloquence on serious as well as light topics. His satirical column, Crocodile Tears has been a part and parcel of the week-end edition of the Daily News, which initially appeared in the Jang for several years is now being published in the Nawa-I-Waqt since 1990. He also writes a weekly column entitled Hasb-e-Mansha for the daily Express. Further, he has been contributing Friday Feature to the Dawn for last about fifteen years. Dr. S.M. Moin Qureshi has 14 books to his credit on variegated subjects. He has complied scores of publication of Sindh Social Security besides editing its house journals, monthly Behbood for 25 years. He has given APNS award of best (Urdu) columnist (1994-96) by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He worked as Chairman, Literary Committee of the Arts Council of Pakistan (Karachi) during 1993. In recognition of his long-standing, meritorious literary services, the government of Sindh has given him a cash grant of Rs. 100,000. On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of his literary career in 2003, the Al-Ta’ruf Group of Companies (Dubai) presented him a gold medal with a cash reward of Rs. 50,000. Gold medals were also awarded to him on the occasion by the Minister of Labour (Government of Sindh and Sadatpur Welfare Organisation, Karachi.
