Forensic Pharmacy is the foundation of the structure on which the sacred profession of Pharmacy has been built up in our country. It provides much needed legal support, professional backing and ethical strength for the systematic growth of the profession.
Pharmacist as a drug custodian, drug maker, drug counsellor, drug dispenser, drug analyser, and drug educator has to discharge his duties within the orbit of professional discipline. The profession derives its strength from the legal provisions such as, acts, rules, bill, orders, and statutes covered in forensic pharmacy, also known as pharmaceutical jurisprudence. Besides, historical developments of drug legislations, pharmaceutical ethics, and study of allied legislative pieces constitute core of the subject.
It was the endeavour of the authors to provide lucid and easily understandable text of the subject for the students of pharmacy based on their long experience of handling the classes in the subject of forensic pharmacy.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR C.K. Kokate
Prof. Chandrakant Kokate has been associated with the pharmaceutical institutions, industry, Government Statutory Bodies and Councils and professional organizations for more than three decades. He is the first pharmacist to become Vice-Chancellor of an Indian University. He served as President, Pharmacy Council o India and Indian Pharmaceutical Association and his contributions to these organizations are highly laudable. He was the President of 50th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress held at Mumbai in 1998 along with Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Association. Prof. Kokate was the Executive Committee Member of AICTE; Chairman, Southern Regional Committee to AICTE; Chairman, All India Board of Pharmacy of AICTEl and Member of NBA and National GATE Committee. He has served as Chairman of several Peer teams of NAAC, UGC. Prof. Kokate is recipient of all the five national awards fiven in pharmacy at India Pharmaceutical Congress, including, Eminent Pharmacist Award of IPA in 2001. His name appears in international Who is Who? Publications. Prof. Kokate has visited more than thrirty countries, chaired many international meetings and events in different parts of the globe and has been a Visiting Scientist in Germany on invitation by DAAD. He has given large numer of orations at both national and international conferences/meetings, published around 120 research papers in foreign and Indian Journals, authored five books and guided 18 students for Ph.D. Programme. Presently, Prof. Kokate is Hon. Scientific Advisor of a Deemed university, Corporate adviser for reputed Indian Pharmaceutical Compan6y and Member, National Programme Monitoring Committee of national Biotechnology Incubation center, Hyderabad.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.B. Gokhale
Prof. Shivaji B. Gokhale represents a perfect blend of academic commitment and industrial consultation. He has a teaching experience of more than 35 years and he has offered consultancy services to more than 15 pharmaceutical companies in the field of herbal drugs. Author of more than 15 books, he is recipient of best Teacher Award of Government of Maharastra. He is the member of All India Board of Pharmacy, AICTE. He was instrumental in setting Drug testing laboratory in Jalgaon as per DCA norms. He is an examiner to many Indian Universities and Inspector of Pharmacy Council of India. He was also the member of Board of Studies and Board of technical Examination, Maharashtra State. Currently, Prof. Gokhle is the Coordinator for R.C Patel College of Pharmacy, Shirpur, Maharastra and he is engaged in developing an excellent institution in rural India. Prof. Gokhle is the Vice-president of Indian Society of Pharmacognosy.
