The Mohammadan Educational Conference was founded by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in 1886 to strengthen the Aligarh movement and disseminate education among the Muslims in every nook and corner of the country. It had its annual sessions all over India and invited the co-operation of the local people and assessed the activities of the movement. It led the Aligarh Muslim University movement vigorously and got it. Most of the Government decision about Muslim education were influenced by the Muslim Educational Conference. Its Central standing committee constantly monitored and watched the activities of the local committees and its provincial annual sessions were also chaired by men of great stature.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shan Muhammad

"Professor Shan Muhammad took his M.A. in History and Political Science from Agra; D.Phil and D.Litt from the universities of Allahabad and Aligarh respectively. He headed the dept. of Pol.Sc. and was the Director of Sir Syed Academy, Aligarh Muslim University."
