The present book on "The American Feminists" is a collection of nine research papers and essays written at different times for literary journals and anthologies.  Shulamith Firestone’s The Dialectic of Sex: A case for Feminist Revolution "became a major text in Second-wave feminism in the U.S. "The Feminine Mystique" depicted the roles of women in industrial societies, and in particular the full-time homemaker role, which Friedan saw as stifling.  Showalter collected fifteen essays on gender, she suspected men, writing on feminism.  Her book, "Poetics of Gender" offers not only examples of what we do when we talk about gender but also an answer to the question. Kate Millett’s ‘Sexual Politics’ indicated the sexism and heterosexism of renowned novelists.  In "The Feminist Thought" Rosemarie Tong, accepts Mary, Wollstonecraft’s views on "men-women moralities.” In her book “Letters on the equality of the sexes" Sarah Grimke linked the rights of salves tot eh rights of women.  The book covers the "First Raw Feminists of America."
