This book contains thirteen contributions ranging broadly across the economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions of the European union –the most successful experiment in regional economic integration in human history. The book is divided into four parts. Part One evaluates the inherent ethos and challenges confronting the European union, the Common Foreign and security Policy, and assesses relations between the EU and the South Asian Association for regional Cooperation. Part Two evaluates the EU’s approach towards the on-going WTO negotiations and the implications of EU policy towards Trade-related Intellectual Property Rights, the environment, and bio-technology for developing countries. Part Three examines the political, economic, and business relations between India and the European union. The concluding part raises and seeks to answer a number of questions of European culture and identity in the merging scenario in Europe. This study will be of interest to all those engaged in the field of economics, political science, and international relations.
