ABOUT THE AUTHOR Makhan Jha

Professor Makhan Jha, Ph.D., D.Litt., is currently Professor of Anthropology, U.G.C. Centre of Advanced Study, Department of Anthropology, Ranchi University, Ranchi. A well-travelled scholar of international fame, Professor Jha has visited many universities of the world. An author of nearly four dozens of scholarly published books, Professor Jha has directed seven major research projects so far. He has carried out field work from high Himalayas of Nepal in the north to Lakshadweep Islands of the Arabian sea in the south. He has also done field work in Thailand and has published several articles on Buddhism. He is the President of Indian Association for the History of Religions, Member of the International Congress of Anthropological & Ethnological Sciences, Founder Editor of Man in Asia, an International journal of Asian Studies.
