This book attempts to trace the Indian origin of the Aryan cult. Making a sociological study of the Vedic mantras to delineate a saga of India’s remote ancestors, it deals with the experiments on kindling fire, the origin of speech, the study of nakshatras and the spread of the Aryan cult.
The author argues that there was never an Aryan race, only an Aryan cult, and he quotes heavily from the religious texts to support his views. He also draws attention to the continuity between the four-syllable folk metre which is mentioned in the Shatapatha Brahmana as ‘prevalent earlier’.
