Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean with its multiple resources. Because of these resources, the West and the East have always shown chief interest in the region. Indian Ocean region provides better perspectives for exploitation. The Islands of the Indian Ocean are also very important politically. It has important trade routes with significant attraction to the U.S.A. and other outside countries. U.S.A. has been basically interested in establishing armed presence in the region with variation in techniques and methods. India, on the other hand has strived to maintain peace in the Indian Ocean. India does have a large naval strength but nothing compared with the naval power of U.S.A. the Other countries of the Indian Ocean areas are also not very strong in their marine power which are in the littoral of the Indian Ocean. This has all gone to convert the Indian Ocean in the pivot of the world affairs. It has become a zone of confrontation. India, has always taken the cause of the third co-countries, made efforts to convert this area into a zone of peace.
