ABOUT THE AUTHOR G.C. Bhattacharya

Dr. G. C. Bhattacharya, obtained his degree of Master of Science (Geography) in 1974 following the degrees of Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Education (1984) from Banaras Hindu University and ranked as first in the merit list of Master of Education examination. Thus he was awarded the prestigious University Gold Medal. Since, 1983 he is working in the Faculty of Education of Banaras Hindu University as a Faculty member and engaged in teaching profession and conducting educational research investigations. He has completed various research projects on environmental awareness of primary school students, identification of specific geography teaching skills, micro and miniteaching techniques, preparation and use of mini lesson plans etc. he acted as an organizer of all India Conference of Indian Association of Teacher Educators in 1994 and member of the committee of the Associations’s U.P. Chapter. He has presented research papers in a number of national and international seminars and conferences including Indian Science Congress and all India Oriental Conference. There are more than 75 publications of his own credit including contributions in text books, original research papers, articles etc, published in numerous leading educational journals, magazines etc. He has developed many instructional learning s well as learning and testing materials and tools, too. He participated actively in one Orientation and two Refresher courses in Education of the University Academic Staff Colleges of B.H.U., Varanasi Devi Ahailya University, Indore and Sampurananda Sanskrit University Varanasi besides one conducted by the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Welfare, New Delhi and also delivered lectures as resource person in many academic programmes. His research paper won prize during the All India Oriental Conference of 1998 held at Baroda as the best paper in the Section of Prakrit and Jainism. He is the life member of a number of academic and professional organizations like Indian Association of Teacher Educators, Council for Teacher Education, All India Oriental Conference, Indian Adult Education Association, All Indian Council for Mass Education and Development, Indian Science Congress etc., Geography Education, Environmental Education, Teacher Education, Oriental Studies, Human Rights Education, Education and Training of Mentally Retarded Children etc. are his areas of interest and his first text book on ‘Bhoogol Adhyapan’ has been published. His doctoral level dissertation in the field of educational technology prepared the base of this publication. He is a well known personality in the field of Hindi Literature also with more than two hundred publications of his own credit.
