ABOUT THE AUTHOR Tsering Dhondup

Dr. (Amji) Tsering Dhondup was born in the Mundgod Tibetan Settlement, Karnataka in 1976. He joined :middle school" of Central School for Tibetans, Mundgod and later studied at the Senior Secondary School for Tibetans in the same settlement. He participated in several co-curricular activities of the school and received many awards for academic achievement. He studied science (Biology) during his last two years of studies in school and later after gradating with merits in 1995he was admitted to Delhi University for the further studies in Science. Whilst still studying in Delhi, he applied for acceptance to The Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute (Mensteekhang) and after successfully completing The Eleventh Medical Entrance Examination he was accepted as a medical student at the Institute. Shilst studying at the Institute he developed an interest in writing and was soon awarded a prestigiious first Prize for a art8icle written on the subject of "comparative Embryology". Other writings secured for him a position in the year 2000 as 'associate editor' of the annual journal "Gangri-langsto", the Institute's Publication. After studying Tibetan Medicine for three years at mensteekhang, he joined the 'Qusar Tibetan Healing Centre', where he resumed his studies under the reputed Tibetan physician, Dr. Namgyal Qusar. He is now a physician in private practice and when not being a Doctor of Tibetan Medicine or a soon to be father, much of his time is spent writing future publications.
