With such objective several universities and institutes like Kurukshetra University and IITTM etc. started tourism education in early ninetees. Overtime it expanded to over 30 organizations of India. So far tourism education has passed through several phases. It is worth to over view the past, present and future challenges of tourism education.

Prof. D.S. Bhardwaj, (M.Com., Ph.D.), He has teaching experience of more than 35 years in Kurukshetra University and other educational institutions in India and abroad. He has guided numbers of research scholars at Doctoral and M. Phil levels. He has published numbers of research papers in International and national journals of repute. Besides attending International Conferences and editing books, he is on several committees of U.G.C. and various Universities. His area of interest is Tourism and Hotel Management, research and Field Techniques.

Prof. K.K. Kamra, [M.A., Ph.D. (Economics)], Professor and Chairman, Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He is having 34 years experience. Has five books to his credit besides several papers in national and International conferences. His fields of specialization include Tourism development and Planning, Quantitative techniques, Tourism Economics.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Manjula Chaudhary

Prof. Manjula Chaudhary, (MBA, PH.D.), She specialises in marketing and tourist behaviour. Her articles have appeared in different national and international journals and she has attended a number of seminars/conferences. She has edited two books as well. She has attended a number of conferences, national and international. Presently she is on the editorial board of Tourism and research Journal.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mohinder Chand

Mohinder Chand, PhD is Reader at the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (Haryana) India. He has developed and taught a variety of courses at the university. His field of specialization (s) include Travel Agency Management; Strategic Tourism Management and HRD. He has attended and participated in many International and Natinal Conferences and Seminars. A prolific writer, his research papers and articles have been published in reputed International and National Journals and Books. He has guided many scholars in Tourism at Doctoral level. He has been on the list of visiting faculty in many tourism and hotel management institutes. He has co-authored 'Basics of Tourism'. He is presently involved in hotel research especially front office, food and beverage and housekeeping operations and management.

Dr. R.H. Taxak, (M.Com., M. Phil, FDPM (IIMA), PH.D.), Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Hotel Management, Department of Tourism, Kurukshetra University. He has teaching experience of 15 years in Kurukshetra University and Commerce Institutions in other states in India. He has published a few research papers. His area of interest and specializat6ion includes Computer Application, Hotel Management.

Dr. Ravi Bhushan Kumar, [M.A., M. Phil, PH.D. (Geography)], reader, specialises in geography of Tourism, Adventure Tourism, Tour Packaging and Tourist resources of India.
