The main reason is its vast geographical size, big markets and its rich potential resources. Visiting India is an enthralling and memorable experience to one and all. This book focuses the Garhwal region of India, has since ages attracted the tourists due to its picturesque snow covered mountains, valleys with sweetly scented flowers, majestic fountains and falls, forest rich in variety of fauna and flora rhythmically moving river sans streams of hot springs. Numerous sages in the past had made it the abode for penances, yogic practices and ritualistic worship in ancient pilgrim centers. It is found everywhere in Garhwal and the world famous temples of Badrinath, Kedarnath also exist in this region. The name of Garhwal region is now come in the map of International Winter sports and Skiing events, due to the recognition of a beautiful site ‘Auli’ in this area. Garhwal regioin is also having number of hard and soft treks for Adventure loving tourists.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Devesh Nigam

Dr. Devesh Nigam (b. 1970) did his Masters in tourism Administration (1994) and there after D.Phil on Impact on tourism on Garhwal Himalayas: Challenges and Strategies for Development” in 1999 from H.N.B. Garhwal University-the institution credited to be the pioneer in the field of higher education in tourism. Dr. Nigam has also passed IATA-UFTAA Standard course of International Air transport Association, Geneva, Switzerland. Among others he also participated in UNESCO Co-Sponsored World Congress on world Leisure and Recreation Association (WLRA) and South Asia Conference off British Airways convened at Kathmandu and Bangkok. Recently Dr. Devesh has also presented a paper in International Conference Intecol 2000 “A Millennium Wetland Event” at Quebec, Canada between August 6 and August 12, 2000. He has about Four years Managerial experience with Air India and British Airways, respectively.
