The book Tourism Planning -An Introduction, is a small text book on the subject for the students at the college level and informal layman who have their in the subject to enable them to understand the basic concepts of the subject most interesting. The habit of traveling is inherent and attached to the human being from the very beginning. With evolution, growth an development of human civilization, it gradually developed into a pleasure but it was only after the advent of industrialization, people started moving in large numbers to places away from their home with a desire for leisure and pleasure which continued till tourism became a socio-economic phenomenon and this phenomenon, today, has evolved into the one of the largest and fastest growing industries of the world. This book has provided the basis of tourism telling us of the tourism particulars and different ways of marketing this composite commodity. It is not just enough to prepare tourism schemes, it is necessary to put them into practice. While we have tried our best to make this book the best on the subject, the students, scholars, teachers and other readers are the best to judge its merits.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sarika Bajpai
Ms. Sarika bajpai, graduated in tourism from college of vocational studies, Delhi university, in 2001. She did MA in Tourism management from Madurai, in 2003. She has been faculty in Tourism at Khazani Women’s Polytecnic, new Delhi (July, 2004-July, 2005), Guest lecturer in Tourism, College of Vocational Studies, new Delhi (July, 2005 –September, 2005), Guest Lecturer in Tourism, Miranda College, Delhi (October, 2005 –march, 2006. She has been equally involved in travel industry. She is presently co-ordinator, Corporate sales at Catican Travels, New Delhi.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Virender Kaul
Virender Kaul, a Goldmedalist from Kashmir University, is a senior-most teacher in the Department of economics, College of Vocational Studies, Delhi University. He joined the College in 1977. He has been teaching economics and also P.G. Tourism specially Economics of Tourism. He started teaching in Regional Engineering College, Srinagar (J&K) in 1973. His project work on planning tourism in Jammu and Kashmir State, written in 1970 was highly appreciated by the state Government. He also worked in NCAER on World Bank projects during 1975-1977.
