The book on Trees and Shrubs of Haryana is a comprehensive taxonomic account of more than 370 woody taxa including trees. The book provides complete information on botanical names, local names (if any), description, flowering and fruiting time, distribution in the state and notes on economic and/or medicinal uses etc. Selected specimens including those of the author himself are also provided at the end of a number of taxa. The book is supplemented with more than 40 illustrations (line drawings) and 27 photographs for providing assistance in identification of taxa. Keys to the families genera and species are also given to provide the lead for correct identification of a taxa even to amateur taxonomists and foresters in the field. Guide for all forest loving people, naturalists and field taxonomists and also to all those who are interested in the study of woody taxa.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Paridhi Nagiyan
Miss Paridhi Nagiyan is a post graduate from CCS University Meerut who recently submitted her Ph.D. thesis in Botany and became interested in the study of woody taxa of Haryana. She as able to contribute in reputed books/journals. She is a life member of IBS and APS and has about 10 research papers to her credit. Miss Nagiyan attended Indian Botanical Conference, New delhi and National Workshop on Less known tree species, FRI, Dehradu and was awarded a Merit certificate for her presentation.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR S. Kumar
Dr. S. Kumar (born on July 25th, 1954) is working as a Senior Scientist in Botanical Survey of India Dehradun. He has been actively engaged in research in plant taxonomy, floristics and biodiversity conservation. He has contributed ca 100 research papers and popular scientific articles in reputed national and international journals and magazines in English and Hindi. He has botanically explored many regions in Jammy & Kashmir, Sikkim and Haryana and has contributed significantly in Flora of Jammu & Kashmir, Flora of Sikkim and Flora of Haryana. He is co-author of the book on "Flora Indicae Enumeratio: Asteraceae" and contributed in Books on Flora of India Vol. 1 (Berberidaceae) Vol. 13 (Asteraceae) and Vol 22 (Fagaceae) and Flora of Sikkim Vol. 1 He has recently published the books on FFlora of Haryana (Materials), Plant Diversity Along River Ganga and Zingiberaceae of Sikkim. His forthcoming publications include Grasses of Sikkim. Dr. Kumar is a Fellow and Life member of several reputed scientific societies and has chaired sessions in various conferences and symposia.
