Trees constitute an important natural resource. From times immemorial trees have been past and parcel of human life. Man has learnt using products from tree in different forms. Tree gives us shelter, food, clothes and medicines. It is logical and convenient to treat the trees of all the states together, because many species have widely distributed. Very little and scattered information are available on Indian trees. Different species of trees, from the giants of the luxuriant rain forest to the shrubby trees of dry areas and windswept mountain summits are native of India.
